Join us: FAST!

I want to let you know about a really cool and important opportunity for you. A chance to do some serious work for 704 and the Kingdom. Will you fast with us? This is a big deal, but something we desperately need. Here’s the deal:

There are on average, 30 days each and every month. Each of those days includes 3 meals. That’s a total of 90 meals in a month. We are looking for people to commit each month to fasting for just one of those days. If you are interested in fasting a full day or multiple meals, we are cool with that too!

The biggest part is committing to fasting during the slot you took for the whole year. We want you to be fasting each month when your time rolls around. This way, every second of every day this year, someone, somewhere will be fasting for 704.  How cool is that?

WHY FAST???  Good question.  Fasting is a Biblical observance and something we’ve seen all the heroes of the Bible doing on multiple occasions.  They fasted from all food sources during tough times, as they grieved and mourned, when wisdom and guidance was needed, simply out of devotion and love for God, and when something monumental was on the horizon.  Take Jesus for example:  just before He publicly began His ministry, He went into the wilderness and fasted 40 days straight in order to prepare and connect with the Father.  Well 704 is definitely something MONUMENTAL and something we need God’s wisdom and guidance for.  We need people praying hard and putting in a lot of hours on their knees this year if we are going to see this thing through.

Below is a lot of Scripture about fasting I encourage you to take a look at so you can get a better grasp on it.  Maybe you have never fasted before, and that is ok!  Don’t worry about it.  Here is your chance to start though.  WHAT DO YOU DO?  Here are a few simple steps:

• Pick a meal on our FASTING CALENDAR that is available.
• Drop me an email to let me know your name, and which meal on which day you chose (phil@thatyouththing.com)
• When that meal comes each month, don’t eat!  Instead pray for God to fill your hunger with His Spirit and His Word.
• Take the time you would normally have a meal and pray for 704.
• Crack open your Bible and claim Scripture relevant to the project.
• Avoid telling anyone.  It is between you and God and should be treated as a private matter.  Your name will not be located on the fasting calendar.  The meal you selected however will be removed as you have claimed responsibility for it.
• Lather, rinse, repeat (next month)

It’s that simple, but I promise you IT IS POWERFUL!!!  I know we will be blown away at the results of tons of people fasting for 704 this year!  I can’t wait!  So get over to the FASTING CALENDAR and pick your meal, or maybe even a whole day if you feel up to it!  Thanks everybody!
