That Youth Thing is hosting the biggest event of the year for Stanly County this weekend!!!  inVERT is a massive block party for teenagers this Saturday (29th) from 7-11 pm at the Market Station in Albemarle.  There will be TONS going on, including:

• High Flight Society in concert, a rock band from Georgia
• The That Youth Thing Band and E~Man-You~El, a local hip-hop group in concert
• Madden 2010 tournament (winners get copies of the brand new game!)
• 3 0n 3 basketball tournament (winners get brand new Nike basketballs and gift cards!)
• Rock climbing wall
• Paintball
• Jumpin’ Jacks Coffee House will be selling Frappuccinos and Smoothies
• 704 merchandise will be available
• You KNOW we’ll be throwing out some free stuff too!

So spread the word to every teenager you know about inVERT!  And parents, there will be tons of responsible adults at our event, so feel free to have a little date night and let your kids (middle school and high school) come hang out with us!  For FREE!  For more information about the event, click HERE.

Wanted to make sure you all knew about the newest coffee shop in town.  Jumpin’ Jacks Coffee House has been open for a couple of months now, and is located on Main St. in downtown Albemarle (across the street from Starnes and The Boardroom).

Connie and Dale (owners) are awesome folks that you definitely need to meet!  Be sure to ask about their story of how JJ’s cam about.  PLUS the coffee is great, they sale “Joe’s Donuts” fresh every morning, hand dipped ice cream, and the Baristas are some of the coolest gals you will ever meet!  So be sure to stop by Jumpin’ Jacks and tell them I sent you their way!  (If Jordan is working, ask her to make you a Liberty Legend espresso shake.  So good your tastebuds will literally take out tiny wallets and reimburse you the cost of the drink…)

Also,  they are the latest location to have all the 704 information, including car clings.  If you STILL don’t have a cling for your car, you can pick one up at JJ’s.  Chances are I will be there and can personally apply it for you…

Jennifer and I had the opportunity to share with Centre Pointe Church in Oakboro about 704 a couple Sundays ago.  We had a blast and wanted to thank Reese for giving us the chance!  Thanks Centre Pointe!

Been hanging out at The Daily Grind Coffee House in Locust again this morning.  Valery, the owner, has let us leave a stack of 704 clings in the shop.  If you are in need of a cling, and a great cup of coffee, stop by The Daily Grind in Locust for BOTH!!!  Only the cling is free, but the coffee is worth every penny, and then some!  Go support a great local shop!

Hanging out at the Daily Grind Coffee Shop in Locust today (new Plaza beside Stanly Community Crutchfield campus). I needed a change of scenery while I worked and wanted to learn about the business more as we prepare to open up The Mug Shot next March.

You definitely need to check out this shop and give Valerie some support! It’s a great place with great coffee, tea, and smoothies. Check them out on the web too!

Introducing Phoenix Ramp Park, THE one and only ramp park in Stanly County that will be housed at 704 Student Center. When 704 opens on March 5th of next year, Phoenix will be waiting right there too!

Why Phoenix you ask? Just as the mythical phoenix rose from the ashes, we want to help teenagers rise from the ashes of life.  So many are hurting in an infinite amount of ways, and Phoenix is one of many attempts at 704 to build life-changing relationships with teenagers.

We love students and want to give them something excellent.  See you next March Phoenix Ramp Park!

Tomorrow night is the big night for all of you skaters and bmx bikers. At Ignite at 6:30 (located at the Agri-Civic Center) we will officially be unveiling the name and logo of 704’s ramp park! We’ll be throwing out t-shirts ($10) and spreading the website around.

I went to Cinder Skate Park today (along with Paul and Torrey) to tour the park and learn from somebody in the trenches, Dave. Their park was great! A HUGE thanks to Dave for sharing ramp park wisdom with us for almost 2 hours! We can’t learn enough.

Here are a few pictures of the park. Go HERE for their website. If you skate (no BMX, sorry) definitely take a trip out there. It’s in Fort Mill, SC, so only about an hour drive. It would be a big help to these guys in their business and ministry. They have 7,600 square feet of skateable space, and have done an amazing job setting it up! Here are their prices.
