Presentation on 4/19

April 24, 2009

This past Sunday we got the chance to share about 704 with some awesome people at Stony Hill United Methodist Church.  Everyone was extremely interested and excited about the center, and very supportive as well.  Thanks Stony Hill for your donation to 704 and thanks to the families who have pledged to become monthly givers!  Also, thanks to Pastor Lanny Lancaster and his wife Janet for letting us come share the vision!

If YOUR family would like to become a monthly giver of $25 or more, or you would like to join the fasting team, drop me an email: phil@thatyouththing.com

704 Made Headlines

704 Made Headlines

704 Made Headlines

In case you missed it, the Stanly News and Press ran a great article about That Youth Thing and its plans for 704. Awesome things are happening, and this article was an unexpected way of letting the word out.

Thanks to so many who have called, emailed, and Facebooked us with encouraging words of support. God is doing this!!!

First random sighting!

March 12, 2009

Today I spotted the very first cling on a random car, of which the owner I did not know! Up until now I’ve known everyone who has a cling on their vehicle (and those are usually in church parking lots). It was cool to spot one out of the blue. Thanks mystery mini van owner! Keep ip the good work.

Cinder Skate Park

March 6, 2009

cspheader

Here is a cool ramp park in Charlotte you should check out called Cinder Skate Park.

These guys are doing a lot of what we want to do at 704 and I’m currently trying to track down the guy in charge and pick his brain. I’ll let you know what I find out. We are all about learning from the people who are already doing what we want to do, and are doing it well!

(By the way, “pick your brain” is a really weird saying. Pretty gross if you think about it…)

Postponed

March 5, 2009

Just so you know, Ignite this year was postponed due to the snowy, icey, junky weather. Postponed to when? I’m not sure yet. However, with the postponing of Ignite comes the postponing of the big reveal for ??? Ramp Park.

Nobody is sadder about that than me, I promise. We would love to go ahead and let you see it, but hate to miss out on unveiling it for the first time in front of tons of people. So, sadly, we will all have to wait. But I promise. it’s sweet!

I’ll be sure to let you know when Ignite gets rescheduled so you can come hang out and find out about ??? Ramp Park and the future of 704!

Biking @ Autumn

February 26, 2009

Here’s a video from Autumn Ramp Park at the Bridge Student Center in Joplin, Missouri. In case you forgot, this is the center Paul and I visited last year that we want to model 704 after. Can you imagine the possibilities??? Their ramp park hosts national events, but it all started small, like 704 will. Keep dreaming with us!

And DON”T FORGET!!! We will be unveiling the name and logo for the ramp park at Ignite Student Rally next week (Sunday the 1st through Wednesday the 4th) at the Agri-Civic Center, from 6:30-8:30 each night. We’ll be shooting some ramp park and 704 shirts out of a t-shirt cannon as well, so you don’t want to miss it! Even if you aren’t part of a youth group, come hang out anyway! Come find me. I’ll need somebody to sit with. Don’t forget to invite your friends. See you there!

3 cars, 4 clings

February 25, 2009

Spotted some more clings.  Thanks for the love everybody!  2 of them are on the 2 cars belonging to Ryan and Tracy Owen.  Yes, they got the whole fleet involved.  That’s Ryan in the picture looking all manly.  The truck I’m pretty sure belongs to Mr. Ric Huneycutt of Greystone Dayschool, yes the mythical man himself.  Congratulations to him for doubling up.

So thanks everybody for sporting the clings and getting the word out in general. Keep it up!  A lady at a school I was tutoring at asked me what my real job was, and after I explained it, she said she saw it on a car sticker.  That was cool to hear.  Slowly but surely the vision is spreading and 704 is becoming more of a household name.  We couldn’t do it without all of you though!!!

By the way, sorry the pictures are always so dark.  It seems like I only spot them at night, like I’m an owl or something.

No more homemade ramps!

February 17, 2009

In honor of all the Stanly County students (and adults) in time past who have resorted to building their own ramps for BMX tricks and skateboards.

Never again.  Not when 704 comes to town in just about a year!  Don’t forget that we will be unveiling __________ Ramp Park at Ignite this year!  That’s March 1-4 at the Agri-Civic Center.  Be some of the first people to find out the name, logo, and website, plus be one of a HANDFULL OF PEOPLE to get the first EVER ___________ Ramp Park shirts!

Word on the street is there will be a t-shirt cannon, so you won’t even have to be up front to snag a free shirt…

704 hits Facebook

February 16, 2009

I found this 704 cling on my buddy Jimmy’s photos on Facebook.  The first ever I do believe.  (Actually, Jennifer spotted it)

n205000404_77925_9483By the way, we need a 704 Facebook group.  Any takers?  I know you’re in 38 groups already, but still, it’s 704.

Clingage!

February 10, 2009

I’ve spotted several 704 stickers on cars lately so I need to throw up the pics! Thanks for sporting our clings! 3 of these were at Highland Baptist Church! The other I saw at a super bowl party. Keep it up everybody!
